Sleep story
Frankenstein
Victor Frankenstein, a curious boy from Geneva, dreams of joining knowledge and kindness. In Ingolstadt he works alone for a long season, and on a stormy autumn night his tall creation wakes, wide eyed and nameless. Frightened, Victor leaves, and the lonely creature must learn the world on his own. Hidden beside a cottage, he learns words by listening, gathers firewood in secret, and discovers that a kind word can warm a whole evening. A startled farewell sends him north, but a meeting on a glacier brings apology and forgiveness. At last he builds a small home in a quiet valley, shares his supper with a gray cat, watches Halloween lanterns from a hillside, and falls asleep under the stars, peaceful at last.
