Heidi
High in the Swiss Alps, five year old Heidi comes to live with her grandfather, the Alm Uncle, in his little brown hut above the valley. This gentle adaptation follows her days on the flower filled high pasture with Peter the goatherd and his goats, the whispering of the three old fir trees, warm milk and fresh cheese, a hay bed under a little round window, and the slow softening of her grandfather's lonely heart. When a visit to the city of Frankfurt leaves her longing for the mountains, Heidi finds her way home to the peaks, the goats, and the people who love her. Told in a slow, soothing rhythm with long calm passages of mountain quiet, this episode is made for drifting off: soft imagery, unhurried pacing, and a warm goodnight from the hayloft.
