In a small gray house at the end of a quiet lane, four sisters spend their autumn days sewing, writing, playing music, and drawing, while their mother Marmee keeps the home warm and kind. Their father is far away, serving others in a time of war, and his letters home remind them to be patient, brave, and generous. Through a walk in the golden woods, a basket carried to neighbors in need, a piano given to Beth, and a quiet evening by the fire, the March sisters learn that the prettiest things in life are not bought, but shared. This gentle adaptation of Louisa May Alcott's beloved classic ends with snow falling softly over the garden, and a house full of love settling down to sleep.
