The Wind in the Willows v3
Tonight's story is The Wind in the Willows, Kenneth Grahame's beloved 1908 tale of the riverbank and its gentle inhabitants. Told slowly in an unhurried voice, this sleepy adaptation follows Mole from his spring-cleaning revolt to the river's edge, where he meets the Water Rat and learns there is nothing half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats. Through a gypsy caravan adventure with the excitable Mr. Toad, a snowy night in the Wild Wood, the warmth of Badger's fireside, and a homesick journey back to Mole's own little burrow, the tale drifts from a calming welcome and breathing cue to a sleepy goodnight. With dry narration throughout and soft music only at the beginning and the end, there is nothing here to startle — only the river, chattering on, telling the best stories in the world. Settle in, breathe slow, and drift away. (v3 remaster: repaired audio, slower breathing cues, gentler intro pacing.)
